An Invitation

Back in May, we received an invitation to nominate our Heritage Lottery Funded Project for the unique opportunity to attend the National Service of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey.
The service marks the 100th anniversary of the Armistice, taking place on 11 November 2018.

There were 300 places to be allocated by ballot to HLF project representatives. Members of the Royal Family, politicians and international representatives will attend the service. The aim is for those mostly in attendence to be people and projects which contributed the most to the First World War Centenary in the U.K.

Beyond the Western Front is one of those projects. This project has run for four years, from 2014-2018, marking the centenary. We have managed to work both creatively, academically as well as historically, diving into our diverse heritage to delivery much needed addictional information for British history.

We used this opportunity to nominate our volunteer Peter Livsey, as a thank you and recognition. Peter has worked tirelessly throughout these four years, supporting each and every project with his historical, research and dissemination skills and expertise.

We are happy to say that we secured a ballot place, and we will be represented at this historical event.
